61 Oxford Street wins 2016 RIBA London Award
May 2016
Dukelease are delighted to announce that after six years of hard work, our landmark development at 61 Oxford Street was this week presented with a prestigious RIBA London Award.
Regarded by both the public and profession as the most valued architecture awards, RIBA Regional Awards champion and celebrate the best architecture across the UK. Entrants are rigorously judged by industry experts and architects, and assessed on a number of criteria, including its architectural and conceptual ambition, sustainability, innovation and use of materials.
Judges commended Dukelease and AHMM for recognising the potential of the site, particularly with respect to revitalising the local area and raising the bar for Oxford Street, in an area which is currently seeing significant regeneration due to Crossrail and several other major redevelopment sites. Both Dukelease and AHMM were also applauded for their high ambitions for the development, as well as the clever references to context, mixed-use and sky-line apparent throughout the building.
61 Oxford Street is a scheme the team at Dukelease are incredibly proud of and we would like to thank everyone that was involved in the project. It has been an unforgettable journey and Tuesday’s success would not have been possible without the hard work of the team we’ve had the pleasure of working with. Representing a real feat of design and engineering, the recognition from a highly respected institution such as RIBA is a testament to our dedication in delivering high-quality, distinctive and innovative buildings which make a real contribution to the surrounding area.
